Janet and Parker

Janet and Parker came up to me and asked if I would take their photo with an iPhone. We were all on the beach, it was a beautiful late summers afternoon, I’d taken the kids there after picking them up from school. Since arriving I hadn’t been able to keep my eyes off Janet. She was beautiful, crystal blue, naughty eyes, always smiling. They looked to be in their seventies but laughed and loved like they were in their twenties. They wanted to be photographed together with the Coast Guard Towers in the background. The towers were important because that is where they had met 3 years earlier. Both of them were single, Janet was a widow with 12 grand children, while Parker was divorced with numerous grandkids of his own. There had been a swing dance going on in the small park next to the towers and Parker had asked Janet to dance with him. They had a wonderful night and he asked for her number. For the next 6 months he tried to get Janet to go on a date with him again but every coffee suggestion was declined. Meanwhile Parker, who is a proud member of the Masons, slowly lost 20 lbs. Finally when he suggested they go for a swim together Janet agreed. When he stepped out of the car she couldn’t believe the change in him.

“I use to have a big belly!” He laughed “and wear thick black rimmed glasses.”

From that moment on they have been inseparable.
