And yet we continue to destroy it.

Flowers and feelings

As she drove along the little lanes to school she looked out at the naked winter trees and marveled at how similar to our lungs they looked. Surely there was no coincidence that the human breathing machine and Mother Nature share the same spindly arms reaching out for sustenance.

Humans have been really pissing her off recently! As a species she can’t shake the fact that we are like locusts, swarms of self indulgent insects scouring the earth for our own benefit, leaving divisive destruction in our paths. Perhaps it would be better if we did lose control of AI and robots took over the world, they became we, they controlled us. Wouldn’t it be a better place if they took our guns away, rewired the brains of those that hurt children, redistributed the power more evenly, stopping humans from essentially being their own worst enemy? We are like cancer to the planet, she thought, and by extension that would make her one of the bad guys, she chewed on that cigar too.

A woman in a big suburban drove past her,  her kids carefully belted into their child safety seats in the back. But all she saw was the squirmy larva of the beast, the spawn of more illness. And the roads they were driving on, the concrete roads, were constrictive bonds leading from one hell to the next. She felt mother nature wanting to stretch and stretch, the roads cracking apart underneath her, her mighty roar filling the skies, she can finally breath again, she is free.  Catching the eye of her ever watchful eldest daughter in the rear view mirror she smiled and carried on humming along to the movie soundtrack playing in the car.
